- Toddler obsessions - Emma's was for about 9 months last year: PICK UP TRUCKS. It began when we thought Scott's truck was going to finally fall apart and we started shopping for new trucks. What truck? Ask Emma and she'll rattle off: "Toyota Tundra 4 door Crew Max; Salsa-Red-Pearl." It became a kind of scavenger hunt as we drove around. "Is this the truck Daddy wants? Well, What kind is it?" Eventually she could (and still can but doesn't because I've embarrassed her by trying to get her to show off the skill too many times) name EVERY make and model of pickup. It became like a little tick as we drove around. It sounded something like:
"Mommy, today at Sunday school (Dodge Ram) we learned about David. He played the harp and (Chevy Avalance) he sang lots of (Cadallac Escalade) songs (Ford F150) to God (Toyota Tacoma - 4 door)."
- Hannah Montanna - (I didn't know I could hate a character more than Barbie, but I was wrong.) We were at the mall to buy Emma's Belle dress up shoes for her Halloween costume (a huge treat!) and saw Hannah Montanna on the screen in the Disney store for about 30 seconds. That was all it took.
Emma: Mommy - I want to wear tank tops and be a little bit naked Teenager Girl like Hannah Montanna.
Mommy: Oh really.
Emma: Yep. And I want to dance and sing - like this (imagine 3 year old with awesome sense of rhythm gyrating hips better than any of Beyonce's back up dancers)
Mommy: Not all teenager girls wear those tank tops and dance like that. Cousin Sarah is a teenager girl and she is never a little bit naked. And she's really nice and super cool. Don't you think?
Emma: Uh.Huh. Sarah is my favorite teenager girl.

- Mommy LOOK what I learned in preschool!!!!!!!!

Mommy: (deep breath in - sloooooooooow exhale. with even voice) Really? Who taught you that?
Emma: Miss Stephanie (our beloved teacher)
Mommy: WHAT? (returning to even voice...feigning mild interest) Um....well......what were you doing when she taught you this?
Emma: Where is thumbkin? Where is thumbkin? (repeat with Index and middle finger to "Tallman") and LOOK - I can DO it ALL by MY SELF!!! (with a big smile waving me the bird with Glee). ![]()
Mommy: Oh...that's great honey. Let's just play that game at home and at preschool. (How did I make it through 30 years without learning about Tallman?)

I didn't know about tall man either, only about thumbkin. Thanks for the warning. Ha!
