This is the new term to describe what happens when you're addicted to 6 hours of nightly tv ending at 1 am. I know there are legions of people for whom this is normal behavior....You know.....Tv news, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, What Not To Wear rerun and nightcap of Law & Order (you choose the channel - A&E, Lifetime, USA). However many of us do not watch tv for more than 1 hr a day, if at all, let alone routinely stay up until 1:30 am and then turn it around at 6:30 am to start the new day. I've tried to explain to Emma the concept of sleeping in, and she really does get it, but there are just these darn birds outside the windows of our new house that won't let her do it. She says, "Their bird noises are bothering me. I just can't keep sleeping." And to think that mature trees were on our "must have" list. Over-rated
Well, last night we had a night off with coverage ending at 11pm, but we still couldn't fall asleep until 12:30 am, because we're now conditioned to it. And the birds began their morning revelry at 6:00 am sharp.
Really - I'm loving every minute of this Olympics. Womens gymnastics has been A-MAZING. Swimming - are you kidding me?
But my new favorite part: the blogs and articles. Here are two GREAT ones.
The Fourth Place Medal Blog
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/blog/fourth_place_medal - this is the best and my new dream is to be on staff for The Fourth Place Medal in Vancouver. It combines hilarious commentary, fun insider info for those of us who could not make it to Beijing, and some good technical/sports info as well. They have written MANY blog articles since late July and there are some real gems to dig around for if you've got time to kill, but some of my favorites are the mysteries solved series: What's up with the honey bottle in men's gymnastics? What's on Michael Phelps' playlist? Why do swimmers drink the water before the race? Why do divers shower after every dive and even more importantly why don't those showers have privacy stalls?
And here is some fan-freaking-tastic entertainment to get you started:

And here is a GREAT article titled "Karolyis Sour Grapes Make Bad Whine" with awesome writing and commentary from Yahoo sports about the Karolyis. Really - you never quite know if you hate to love them or love to hate them.

It is nice to have so much free entertainment to take our mind off the complete "house rich - cash poor" situation we're currently in. I might cry at the closing ceremonies....shudder......let's not even think about that. In the meantime - GO USA!!!!
ps - I've been planning on Olympic bid in 2022 as an Olympic curler. If I make it I'm getting that cool tattoo of the Olympic rings. Until then, I'm aiming for spectator and blogger in 2010 in Vancouver.

You'd be so proud of how much Olympics I watched (I don't think I've ever really watch any in the past.) I even know who Natasia Liukin and Shawn Johnson are and about their fights for 1&2 on the women's all around and beam and how Natasia lost the tie because of the funky tie breaker rules. See, amazing huh?
