We've taught her:
Litigious - There are no see-saws at the park in CA because parents are too litigious.
Tacky - Importing palm trees to line the drive way of your estate in Alabama, and then lighting them with rainbow colored lights leading up to a giant fountain with more rainbow colored lights is tacky.
Mullet - Mullets are tacky.
Chigger - Don't run around in the grass with no shoes and socks or you'll get chigger bites.
And Emma picked this one up on her own:
"I tell you what." - Wow - Barbie's pants look really good on Sleeping Beauty. I tell you what!

This post made me laugh out loud.
Also, I never knew what a chiggar was until I married John. I'm still unsure if we have them in Idaho. I know we have them in Kansas. Lovely aren't they?
What's a chigger?
Hi Carol - My name is Laurie and I currently live in San Diego, Ca. My husband is an engineer for a major defense contractor and we are relocating to Huntsville next winter. Your blog brings great comfort to me as I am a lifelong resident of beautiful San Diego and am very nervous about the move.
I especially loved reading about your visit to Monte Sano State Park and the Botanical Gardens, I have those places on my "things to do and see" list.
I look forward to discovering my new hometown through your web journal!
Mom - chiggers are little mites that live in the grass and give you nasty, itchy, burning bug bites.
Laurie,
My heart is warmed that you find my blog comforting & helpful. It motivates me to keep up on what we're doing here. I've actually connected with another family here because they found my blog and had a similar relocation timeline to mine. I don't know how long you've been following the blog, but back in April and May I wrote about some of my house hunting and preschool scouting experiences. You might find those helpful. I'm as much a California Girl as you can be, but I am really loving it here. My grandparents lived in Chula Vista,so I've spent lots of time in San Diego. Let me know if you'd like to exchange email addresses if you'd like to ask more questions. I'm happy to help!
Are you moving in the upcoming winter, or the following winter?
Blessings! Carol
Hi Carol-Here is my email address: laurieannnoel@gmail.com
We are scheduled to move in March, 2009 - just seven short months from now. In the meantime, my husband is (temporarily) working in Denver and dividing his time between Denver and Huntsville -- he will be in Alabama next week for a two-week stay.
I'll read your archives for tips on where to look for housing -- we are empty nesters and have no particular needs.
