It's raining and pouring

Scott's paycheck was not direct deposited into any of our accounts today. Don't worry HR tells us; it's been mailed in the USPS. Well (and I mean this with no sarcasm or disrespect) only God knows when we'll get it.

See if you can follow me on this.....Because the previous owners of our house have the last name Scott, same as Scott's first name, the USPS mixed up our forwarding orders and combined them. So, all of our mail is being forwarded to the Scotts in GA. They were kind enough to send us some of that mail in a package, but unfortunately this has only exacerbated the problem and delayed the post office from realizing there was a discrepancy and resolving it. Hopefully it has been resolved now, but it's going to take some time before all our mail trickles back to us. Janet at the Owens Cross Roads postal station promises that our mail is in the system and that it will get to us, unless it gets returned to sender at some point in the process. We received NO mail (save for 1 LL Bean catalogue, which everyone in Huntsville receives, so as to be able to dress in the Engineers uniform) on Wednesday. Today and Thursday we received a FEW pieces (2 or 3). For the last 10 days we have not received Scott's new credit cards and atm cards, no bills from CA, no bills from AL, no light fixture, no rug sample and who knows what else.

Not only that but we still have a long list of house things - like rugs and shelves we don't dare touch, and we missed our window for $300 plane tickets for a trip to ID we've been planning for 2 years, so on Wed. we bought a worse itinerary for close to $600 each. And we've found out that in AL Pratt & Whitney doesn't do vacation time the same way, so after this trip and the family reunion in October, he won't have any vacation left at Christmas.

Meanwhile....it's countdown to the September mortgage payment where we pay for 2 mortgages. We've fired the old property management company. Hopefully the new one will find us a tenant quickly.

And things are tense at work for Scott. Ugly tense.

We refuse to panic. And when one of us starts to forget that we refuse to panic, the other one of us reminds each other that God led us here. And while we're waiting for all this dust to settle, we're really enjoying this place.

Ugh. I hope your mail situation is better by now. From all our moves, we've experienced this too. We have had our mail so messed up for so long on a few occasions(once it happened when I was billing for piano lessons by mail - I went quite a while without checks). I've realized what a delicate and complicated process delivering mail is. We had to become best friends with someone at a certain post office once just to get it sorted out. Feeling your pain...
