Emma moments

Emma - getting married - on her motorcycle

PHILOSOPHY, THEOLOGY, ETC.

While she was still 3 years old:

She was learning about creation at church. "God created everything." The lesson did a good job demonstrating to preschoolers the concept of creation rather than just building or constructing something. At the table during lunch later in the week, she asked, "Mommy, if God created EVERYTHING, did he create HIMSELF?"

Since turning 4: "Mommy, how many numbers are there until you're all done counting?" I epxlain that numbers go on forever. She says, "But if you know all the numbers, when are you finished counting to the very end?" I explained a few more times. She finally said, "hmmm." Don't worry, Emma, that's my response to infinity too....hmmm.

REPORTS FROM PRESCHOOL:

"Maylene's daddy said that if she keeps her room cleaned up she can have TWO cats AND a bunny." (Somebody should tell Maylene's dad to get a grip.)

and

"Today, during snack we were having birthday cupcakes. Chadi threw up. We had to go outside. Chadi had to go home."

AROUND THE HOUSE:

Bending down to put her face floor level, cheek on the tile...in her super excited cutsie voice of wonderment: "Look, Mommy, a spider.....Oh!" Then standing up, lifting her leg up as high as possible, sqashing on the spider with one swift stomp, and shifting to her emphatic this-makes-me-sound-like-a-grownup-voice: "Don't worry, mom. I got him," and she turned and walked out the back door.

GEOGRAPHY

We were looking at State cards and maps with a friend, who had given them to Emma. We were reviewing all the states we had been to. When we got to Idaho Emma's 1st answer was "No, I haven't been to Idaho." I said, "YES you have...don't you remember who lives in Idaho that we went to visit?" Without missing a beat, Emma's eyes lit up and she said: "ROY!"

This is Roy. Emma misses you, Roy.

Don't worry, Kasey & John. We miss you too!
