Pet Peeve - #2 in series

I enjoy having pet peeves. Most of the time. Here is a pet peeve that I could live without:

PEOPLE WHO STAND IN FRONT OF THEIR SHOPPING CARTS AS THEY UNLOAD THEM, PAY, THEN CARRY OUT THEIR GROCERY BAGS BY HAND AND

LEAVE THEIR CART RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE NEXT CUSTOMER.

Strangely, this happened twice in one week to me. The second time at Target, my blood sugar was low, my time short, and my patience thin. Yes. I said something.

Carol (with genuinely fake concern and urgency):

"Oh - ma'am. Is this your cart? I think you forgot to take it with you."

Other shopper:

"Oh...um... well - I don't really need it anymore.."

Carol:

"Well, neither do I, and it's kind of in my way." (finished with a smile that was mostly in the mouth, and not so much in the eyes)

Who does that? Who just leaves a shopping cart, the size of a yugo, right in the checkout stall in front of another person, out of reach of an employee? Who? I cannot imagine being so purposefully thoughtless (one of my favorite oxymorons).

It's funny - I don't mind cleaning other people's bathrooms, I don't mind when someone else steals the parking space I'm clearly waiting for (usually), I don't mind so much when someone else cuts in front of me in line, but when someone just dumps their cart right in front of me and walks away, I MIND MOVING THAT CART! I MIND IT A LOT!
