Here's why I was a little irritated the other night:
It's "mystery reader" time at Emma's school. The parents can be surprise readers for story circle. You're encouraged to make a big deal of it. Hmmm...that's no problem for me. Especially since this is the 1st thing I've really been able to be involved in for Emma's school.
The plan was to read "Gwendolyn, The Miracle Hen" a beloved story with beautiful pictures from my childhood and to either handout plastic eggs with a doo-dad inside, or balsa wood eggs that I had painted and stenciled. Well, another mom gave out plastic eggs for her kid's birthday. The nerve! So - wood egg ornaments it was. But at 9:30 pm on Sunday night, it became overwhelmingly clear that my paint and stencil assembly line concept, was NOT going to be a swift, efficient project with a great, adorable outcome. Argh!!! Stenciling is definitely over-rated, but sometimes if I've been watching too much Martha Stewart, I forget.
But - Monday morning I had the - scrapbook paper, spray adhesive, spray gloss finish epiphany. Yes - the project just might be done before Tuesday at 11 am.
And, I had a great friend in town to join the madness and accompany me to Michaels for materials and stay up finishing the project (which was swift, efficient and pretty if I do say so myself) and decorating boiled eggs for a hands-on aspect to the story. I sweetened the deal (pun intended) with a trip to our favorite local frozen yogurt place (blog entry to follow).

I'm so glad that at the last minute on my way out the door, I remembered to take a few pictures.

The bucket was a gift from my Aunt Carol to Emma when she was still a little baby.
Well - it's 12:39 am. Scott and I leave for Huntsville tomorrow - I mean today. Neighborhood choosing and house shopping and romantic getaway. Yep - not the best combo, but we'll take it, enjoy it and make the most of it. We've never spent 5 nights just the 2 of us since Emma was born, and while in our dreams these 5 nights would be in Hawaii or Mexico, we're actually really thankful for the time and space to work out the prospect of a brand new life path.
Can anyone tell me why I'm wide awake? What - soda at 3pm? No that can't have anything to do with it. And usually a soda buzz makes my tense and jittery, not awake and bubbly and productive. And why is it SO WINDY? In MARCH? I HATE the blasted wind. Hmm...do you think there's any chance I'll wake up at 6:15 for a run before we leave in the morning?
